Turtle Beach, more recently best known for its gaming headsets, has acquired Neat Microphones, a USB and analog microphone manufacturer.

The acquisition includes entry to the $2.3 billion dollar microphone market and includes the former founders and inventors of Blue Microphones USB microphones, Skipper Wise and Martins Saulespurens.

Blue Microphones might sound familiar, and for good reason. It was the home of the first-ever USB microphone. If you’ve watched any game streamer or podcaster, you’ve likely seen the Yeti and Snowball models.

“We are entering the growing global streaming and microphone market with two significant advantages – the visionary leadership and engineering expertise behind some of the most renowned mics of the past 30-plus years, and Neat’s impressive 2021 product lineup,” Juergen Stark, CEO of Turtle Beach and 21Ration, said.

Thanks to the acquisition, Turtle Beach now owns 40 patents and 70 trademarks from Neat. With the combined experience and knowledge of the Neat team, Turtle Beach expects this acquisition to bear ample fruit, not just for gamers and budding podcasters around the globe, but for everyone having to make space to work and learn at home during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“The market is ready for a new, high-quality, easy-to-use portfolio of digital microphones,” Skipper Wise, president of Neat Microphones, said. “Neat is the digitally native microphone brand that, with Turtle Beach’s extensive retail relationships and best-in-class global distribution, can bring this innovation to more people all over the world.”

Wise continued, “2020 showed all of us – family and friends, coworkers, musicians, gamers, streamers, podcasters, creators, influencers, educators and students – the importance of our voices being heard more than ever before. In 2021, Neat will launch new, updated versions of some of our most popular analog and digital microphones. We’re also currently developing the next generation of our products to meet the growing demand for high-quality, affordable microphones.”
